In 1972, Duffy photographed Bowie for the first five sessions in his Ziggy Stardust persona, posing with a red teardrop 12-string guitar, a borrowed prop. Freddie Burretti designed Bowie's costume for his groundbreaking appearance on Top Of The Pops with The Spiders From Mars. This unforgettable performance made David Bowie a household name, influencing the young generation and shocking the older. The costume was displayed in the ‘David Bowie is’ exhibition by the Victoria & Albert Museum which toured worldwide with 2.2 million visitors.
